If you are a novice my recommendation is to buy a couple of books with more focused content. Since they are more focused they will take you to a higher level of understanding. I provide a list of such books on my amazon page.If you for some reason only want to buy one book, you can consider the current book. However, be aware that trading is not easy and most fail because they don't have a money management systems (as the book points out).If you are not a beginner I do not think this book will give you anything.

2 Years ago I became a full-time trader after taking several courses and reading more than 40 books on trading. Dr. Elder's book is the ONLY one that has made me money, a lot of money (603% last year).The first half of the book deals with the psychology of both the market and the trader. I didn't fully appreciate this portion of Dr. Elder's book until I began trading. This is the biggest obsticle of the trader. His insight has really helped me to understand the movements of the market and myself as a trader.The second half of 'Trading for a Living' deals with technical analysis and money management. This has proved invaluable to me. There is so much accurate information I've read the book eight times, that's how jam packed it is with useable information. Also, every word matters--no fluff at all--unlike most of the books on trading I've read. And, don't overlook his money management chapter. This is where amatuers fail. His simple money management system will help to elivate you to a professional trader. If you want to make money, this is the book.SKEPTICSI'm not saying any book will make you a trader. It's more complicated than that. But Elder gives you a great foundation, especially his triple screen method and his ranking the success of various patterns and indicators in different markets (bull, bear, trading range).From there, it's experience. I've been day trading for 11 years. I've made great money and had some loosing years, but mostly it was when I didn't follow Elder's advise. One of his great pieces of wisdom is (paraphrased) "Great trades scream out to you," meaning don't trade to trade, wait for super setups.

This is the 5th book I read on trading. The author is very entertaining and there were a lot of sections were I actually laughed out loud. The author assiociates traders who loose with alcoholics. He believes that loosers have a condition and can't help themselves from loosing like alcoholics who can't stop drinking. For instance losers will cashed out of profitable positions to fund their loosing ones or when they start loosing they will double up on the loosing position. According the the author 9 out of 10 new traders will be out of trading in less than 6 months because of this loosing mentality. But the market would not be what it is today if it was not for these loosers. You have to decide if you are a winner or one of the looser mentioned in the book.The first third of the book focused on the psychology of trading and it was very well written. The middle third of the book talked about the technical ascpect of the book and to be honest the author kind of lost me there. The technical part of the book was a little much for me, it talked about a lot of system traders used back in the day. I have developed my own system and this part of the book really confused me and I recommend skipping it if you already have a system. The last third of the book talked about money management. This part of the book was good and very informative. I have a rule where I would get out of a trade when I was down 10% but the author recommends getting out of trade when you are down 2% of your over all equity. For example if you have 30k in your account you should get out when you are $600 on a trade. This makes much sense and I will incorporate this stategy in my system.All in all it's a good book and I recommend reading it if you plan to be a fullmtime trader. The technical part of the is a bit much but if you do not have a strategy it might be worth a quick read otherwise i would skip this section.Good luckDmonk.

Impressive and well done. The first half (Brendan Hughes interview) is incredible. The second half is relatively tedious, as it is a blow by blow account of peace negotiations. It would have been a better book if Moloney had contributed something on the interviews, how he did them, and his criteria for believing what he is told. For instance, Hughes relates opinions and names. Is he lying? Is he telling it as he remembers? Or is he simply settling old scores with former comrades? How about Ervine? Is he hiding stuff? Was he really such a "political" person and what was his role as the UVFs explosives expert? At the same time, both are full of interesting titbits about British duplicity and dirty tricks.Anyway, it well worth reading, and probably one of the more accessible and interesting pieces on The Troubles.

This book is worth reading if you are very interested in The Troubles, but I would not recommend it to those are reading about it for the first or second time. The interviews conducted at BC are very interesting and this book includes a lot of great testimony from them, but the book completely lacks sense of progression. I think the author struggled to put the interviews and the context surrounding them into a cohesive timeline. The level/detail of information acquired through the BC interviews deserves a more cohesive book.On the other hand, if you are very interested in this subject, simply reading the testimony alone is worth it (though you might just be able to find that online).

Most people know of "The Troubles" in Ireland, but most people do not understand them. This book goes a long way to explaining what was in the hearts and minds of young IRA volunteers during the most turbulent times in Irelands sad history of British Rule. Brendan doesn't just tell you he joined the IRA, he tells you the deep personal reasons for doing so. The events that thrust him into the IRA, and of course his relationship with Gerry Adams is a controversy that has people questioning "The Darks" state of mind when giving this information. An absolute must read for anyone who lived through Irelands war or has any Irish ancestry at all.

So I don't have the words to express just how much I loved this book. I started reading this book as an arc in exchange for an honest review. By 40% I had to own this book for my Amazon library. I hope and pray I can get the next book as an arc too just so I can read it that much sooner because rest assured I'm still going to purchase that one too. Lucy Lennox is now a definite one-click author for me. I'm still smiling and believe me that says a lot because my life is one big clusterfail right now, but this book has still managed to put a huge bright spot in my day.I love witty banter. This book has so much smart, funny, cute, sexy witty banter I was beside myself with happiness. The first night I started reading it I had to stop myself as I started to laugh out loud and almost wake up my SO only to realize that by stifling my mirth I was actually at risk of waking him from my shaking. The next day life fell apart for me, but that night when I needed a distraction and something to smile over, this book did not disappoint.Some of my criteria for 5 stars:Did I fall in love? Oh my word, yes. I love Blue and Tristan. I love the humor. The honesty. The openness. The intelligence. The sweetness and sincerity. The sexiness. And the love and caring they had for each other.Would I re-read it? Absolutely. You better believe it.Were there moments- sad, funny, sweet, fantasy fueling- that I replay? Again, yes. Basically at this point I'm just reliving and loving the whole book, not just one or two single scenes.

Three For The MoneyI occasionally do this and I apologize if you don't like me wrapping a whole series in one review. However, this one caught me by complete surprise to the point where I abandoned all the other books I was reading (and they are all by some of my favorite authors) and read straight through these three like a hot knife through butter.First of all, the characters surrounding the MCs in each book are the crazy Marian family of Northern California, a free-wheeling, loving gang of six natural siblings, five boys (three gay, but one in the closet), and one girl, Simone. Then there's Aunt Tilly, one of the great hoots of all time, and attendant members of other clans and friends of each of the MCs--this gang can definitely shoot straight, but sometimes they all miss the mark.The main theme in each book is that every single one of the MCs is terrified of commitment for good reason. In "Borrowing Blue," Blue (nee Bartholomew) Marian has just been dumped by his long-time lover Jeremy on the eve of Simone's wedding, and he is not interested in ever having another relationship. Then he meets casual a supposedly straight man named Tristan in the bar of the vineyard estate where Simone's wedding is to take place. Tristan is just coming off a bitter divorce propagated by him finding his wife entwined with...well, that would be giving away a spoiler.Needless to say, when Jeremy walks into the bar with a boy toy (he was invited to the wedding) and Tristan offers to kiss Blue to prank Jeremy, we have the beginning of a wonderful assignation during which Tristan comes to terms with the fact that he has probably always been at least bi, and Blue comes to the conclusion that this cannot and should not last.But it does, and along the way during the week-long lead up to the wedding, Blue's brother Jamie comes to town from Alaska where he, a dedicated environmental super star, had just been recently literally left at the altar by a guy named Brian, who turned out to be married. Jamie is off commitments and is also trying to escape the e-mail and voice-mail entreaties of a world-renowned wildlife photographer named Theodore Kodiak, which leads us into "Taming Teddy."Teddy will bed anyone at anytime, male or female, on the condition that both realize it's likely to be a one-off, and when he finally corrals Jamie in the second book, the slightly older man becomes besotted. During a wild New Year's weekend in Hawaii where the whole family has escaped for another wedding, Jamie notices his country-music superstar brother Jude in a hallway being ravaged by his tall, hot, ex-Marine bodyguard Derek--which shocks him because Jude is supposed to be straight (we know he's not because Blue tells us this secret in the first book).That brings us to "Jumping Jude," which presents us with the Jude-Derek situation, in which both are deeply closeted but in the end it's Derek who cannot force himself to come out. This leads to a major rift that lasts longer than it should because Derek--like Teddy and Blue before him--simply has his head up his ass about relationships.Each of the books has basically the same plot, but each of the MCs stand out as brilliantly constructed individuals. The covers are absolutely spot-on--you can see the family resemblance in Blue, Jamie and Jude. The sex is explosive and there are a great many sex scenes, each of which stands alone as a lead-up to the next encounter.In the end, what is implied in the author's note is that she is not done. See, the Marians became very involved in the LGBTQ community when Blue and Jamie came out, and they adopted three young gay men who are now in college--and I think Ms. Lennox has some more Marians to be made. That would be wonderful, because this is one clan I can say lives up to family values.

Romance novels aren't really my thing, but once in a while it's fun to read something that's not too serious.I liked the beginning of this book. The storyline was cute. The two protagonists were fun. Unfortunately, I felt like the plot got lost around the last quarter of this book. There's quite a bit of romance and a LOT of sex. I found myself skimming through the last few chapters, trying to get back to the story because I wanted to know what was going to happen to characters. Negative one star for the plot that got lost.Both protagonists views are told in the first person. In the beginning, I thought the author did a great job giving the characters their own distinct voices. But again, the last quarter of the book got sloppy and I had a hard time distinguishing between the protagonists. By the end of the story, both characters have mostly stopped using first names and just call each other "baby," furthering the confusion. Some of the scenes seemed a little far fetched. The public displays of affection seemed a little over the top by the end of the story. It's almost as if the author forgot who the protagonists were. Can a grown man in his thirties repeatedly choose to sit on another grown man's lap in public? I suppose, but I don't think it's likely due to the weight, size, and height of the men described in this story. I'm removing a star for the character confusion. It took me out of the story every time I had to go back to the beginning of the chapter to figure out which character is speaking. This wasn't an issue until the end of the story.This book was fun for what it was. I might even read another book by this author, but I really wish the last quarter of the book matched up better with the beginning of this story.

About the Author

Gabriele Corcos was raised in a Tuscan olive orchard, on the hills right above Florence. He started cooking at the age of six and has not stopped since. Together they produced and co-hosted Cooking Channel’s Extra Virgin. Well, it’s just as much fun to cook from this book as it was from their previous cookbook! I managed to cook every single recipe from their previous cookbook and I aim to do so from this cookbook, also. I find the recipes I enjoy prepared so far from this cookbook to be extremely family- friendly (i.e., kids love the food!) and very generous portions that almost always provide leftovers for lunch the next day. This beautifully illustrated book provides a glimpse into their lives, which is accented by their love for good, wholesome food. It’s a pleasure to read as well as cook from these recipes they have shared. Kudos, Gabriele and Debi!

My first introduction to Debi and Gabriele was a Sunday morning show that I turned to while drinking coffee. I liked their cooking and interactions with the food and started watching the show every week. I finally got on Amazon to look for their books and decided on Super Tuscan as my first choice. The stories are what you would expect if you have listened to their show and I like their way of cooking Italian. I don't have any Italians in my family and I admit I am not a big pasta eater, so this book was great to me because it had other things to cook that were very good to eat that weren't all pasta. The book starts by going over the ingredients that they use on a regular basis and why they recommend them for the recipes in the book as the pair like to buy fresh at the farmer's market. It follows the usual standard cookbook plan by dividing everything by courses and the recipes in each add a comment on what wine they would choose for the dish. There are a lot of color photographs and more personal ones of the couple out buying things from the farmer's market or cooking at home. This is one cookbook that has stayed on the table to be reread again for more recipes.

My grandparents came to America as young adults. That was the early twentieth century. Until Gabriele's book, I haven't known how to create those wonderful dishes. It brings back all the delicious memories. Good Job GC! More, more and more.

After returning from Italy this summer we were inspired to make some Tuscan dishes and I am convinced there is nothing better than this book. We made the pesto pork chop dish and the aroma while cooking it was like walking into the finest restaurant in Tuscany. Debi and her husband are a beautiful, inspiring couple and there love for each other and their family resonates through this culinary labor of love which is Super Tuscan, the book.

Debi and Gabriele’s Second cookbook is a tribute to their love of family and sharing their simple Tuscan food with the world. My husband and I have been to one of their pop up suppers in Brooklyn, NY and it was outstanding. I love this cookbook for its simple recipes and fantastic flavors. Each recipe is accompanied by a beautiful plated photo. So far I have made the zucchini with wagon wheel pasta, Brie cheese, fantastic and the lentils with buretta. The flavors are outstanding. Happy to add their second cookbook to my collection.

Love this book so much i purchased one for my MIL & one for my mom. Definitely inspired me to get into the kitchen and start cooking. Can’t wait to try the baked oysters for my feast of the 7 fishes. And those bbq wings with balsamico!! Are you kidding me, food porn. The carrot cake is very interesting and looks so delicious, wish they had pictures for every dish but have to use my imagination. Love the Italian spin on American classics. Can’t wait for the next book. I own them all. 😂😘

This is visually lovely...simple directions, encouraging.......however, be careful.....I’m not convinced this was proof read. I just made the Mussel Chowder, which calls for 3 Tablespoonfuls of flour. No way!....one is sufficient, or you’ll end up with thick Stodgy. It also needs something more....I’m not quite sure what.....maybe fresh lemon juice. It is good, but needs something else, so it can leap to superb

Glenn Eric Singleton hails from Baltimore, Maryland. A product of public elementary and independent secondary school, Singleton earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his master’s degree from the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University. Singleton began his career as an Ivy League admissions director. In 1992, he founded Pacific Educational Group, Inc. (PEG) to support families in their transitions within and between K–12 and higher education. His company rapidly grew into a vehicle for addressing systemic educational inequity by providing a framework, guidance, and support to K–12 systems and institutions of higher education focused on meeting the needs of under-served students of color. He is now its president and chief executive officer.Singleton and his associates at PEG design and deliver individualized, comprehensive professional development for educators in the form of training, coaching, and consulting. Working at all levels, from beginning teachers to superintendents at local, state, and national levels, PEG helps educators focus on heightening their awareness of institutional racism and implementing effective strategies for eliminating racial achievement disparities in schools. This is a subject worthy of exploration, and the book does a good job of that. The problem is that frequent use of hyperbole discredits what would otherwise be a rational discussion, and too often dramatic, yet key assumptions are made without data to support them. I suspect the data exists, but much is made instead to feel anecdotal and sound like tabloid T.V.I would have also prefered for this book to be more concise. It could be cut down by 2/3 and would better facilitate discussions in a small group.If your school or educational situation involves a lot of visible, intrusive racial or socioeconomic differences, then this book is for you. Otherwise, I think it takes too much effort to get to what's important.

Glenn E. Singleton and his co-authors of this and the previous edition of Corageous Conversations About Race ask the reader to do one thing. It is neither simple nor easy. It takes a commitment from the reader. They ask that we investigate the way race plays out in our lives, the ways in which we have acquieced to Institutional Racism and how we can confront those internal biases in the service of our students.This book gives district school, and classroom leaders steps to undertake in order to engage in this self-discovery and to find strategies that will increase the success of our young black, brown, and indigenous learners. This is an excellent book that should be read across every school in every district in the USA.

Our school is reading this book as a book study and it serves as a great catalyst to conversations about race! We have been able to share and listen to each others stories about how race has affected our lives. It has also allowed us to evaluate our school and if there are any systematic practices that we have at our school that keep a student from fully succeeding and reaching their full potential. I would encourage any school wanting/willing to talk about race to purchase it. He will challenge you to evaluate your practices and view points on race!

This book is excellent - helps hone those activities that help people through difficult conversations!!

I prefer the second edition but this is still good.

Everyone should read this book.
